| I get runtime
error 401 "Can't show non-modal form when modal form is present" or
"Noteable can only load decks with the .dek extension" errors. |
This error was caused when the 'Always use deck' feature checkbox was
chosen, but no deck path was chosen to accompany it. To resolve this
error, uninstall your old version, delete any residual files from the
install location ("C:\Program
Files\The Noteable Music Flashcards\Noteable" by default), and reinstall
the latest version. |
| I get "Error reading setup initialization
file". |
The "Error reading setup initialization file" error you have encountered
appears when your computer has trouble reading the download file. To
avoid this error try choosing to "Save" the file to your disk when
downloading, instead of choosing "Run". Also, erasing temporary files on
your computer may resolve this error.
To resolve this error: First try downloading again. You also might
try downloading at a neighbor's or the library, burning to a CDR and
transporting the file to your location.
Also, you may try downloading from our download hosts,
www.download.com, or
www.tucows.com. Search for
"Noteable".
1) Uninstall any existing version of Noteable.
3) When the "File Download" dialog box appears, click the "Save" button.
4) Click "Desktop" on the left of the "Save as" dialog box.
5) Right click the white area of the "Save as" dialog box and choose
"New" -- "Folder" to create a new folder.
6) Type in the name "Noteable Temp" for the new folder.
7) Double-click the folder to open it.
8) Click "Save" to save the download file of the latest version of
Noteable into your newly created folder.
The file should begin downloading. Make sure all 11.4 Mb of the file
download properly. You can check the file size by right-clicking the
file and choosing "Properties".
When the download has completed:
1) Minimize all open windows to show your desktop.
2) A folder called "Noteable Temp" should appear. Double-click "Noteable
Temp" to open the folder.
3) A file with the latest copy of Noteable called "Noteable###.exe" where
### is the version number should appear.
4) Double-click "Noteable###.exe" to begin the installation of Noteable.
Follow the onscreen installation instructions.
After installation, you can erase the folder "Noteable Temp" from your
desktop.
If the error you encountered persists, you can try erasing any temporary
files that windows stores in temp folders. This is in no way harmful to
your computer and in most cases is helpful.
To erase files stored in temporary folders in Windows XP:
1) Click "Start" "Control Panel" "Perfomance and Maintenance" "Free up
space on your hard disk".
2) Choose drive "C:\". This is chosen by default.
3) From the "Disk Cleanup" window, you can check every box, but at the
very least check "Downloaded Program Files" and "Temporary Internet
Files".
4) Click "OK" to begin erasing temporary files.
Then try reinstalling Noteable.
