If you experience any problem with Noteable

Please contact us.  We regularly issue updates and patches to keep Noteable fresh and functional on all types of systems.  As soon as we know of an error, we go to work on repairing it.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Known technical issues:

I cannot figure out how to start Noteable after installation:
1) Click 'Start'
2) Click 'Programs' or 'All Programs'
3) Click 'Noteable'
4) Click 'Noteable'

Noteable spills off my monitor or is too large to see on my monitor:
1) Right-click your desktop (main computer screen area).
2) Click 'Properties'
3) Click the 'Settings' tab
4) On the bottom left of the 'Display Properties' dialog is a resolution slider.
Adjust the slider so that your screen resolution is at least 800*600 or higher.

The note positioning seems off. Es are showing as Ds etc:
1) Start Noteable.
2) From the Main Menu click 'Setup...'
3) From the Deck Setup screen click 'Help | Calibrate Note Positioning' from the drop-down menu.
4) Click 'Yes' to choose to manually calibrate note positioning.
5) Follow the on-screen instructions to calibrate note positioning.

Alternatively, you can adjust your computers DPI settings

1) Right-click your desktop (main computer screen area).
2) Click 'Properties'
3) Click the 'Settings' tab
4) Click ‘Advanced’
5) Under ‘Display’ click the DPI setting drop-down box and change to ‘Normal size (96 DPI).

How do I configure a midi keyboard/controller?
1) Noteable automatically receives input from any midi controller (keyboard) connected to your computer via midi cables (available at music stores).

Before Noteable can accept midi signals you will need to:

1) Buy the necessary midi cables and adapters.
2) Plug your midi cables into your computer (usually done via an adapter through the sound card).
3) Configure your midi controller (keyboard) to send 'Midi Out' signals.  Most keyboards will do this automatically.
4) If the above is done correctly, you should be able to respond to Noteable using your midi controller.
5) To those who may have several midi inputs coming into a computer (mainly just really advanced midi users), Noteable should accept input from all controllers that are connected properly.  There is no need to select which input device to use because Noteable will accept data from any of the many properly connected devices.

After midi signals are working, you may wish to adjust sound settings.  To do this in Noteable:

1) Click 'User | Options...' from the drop-down menu to open the 'User Options' screen.            2) In the 'Audio' box you may choose to enable/disable in-game music, menu music, sound effects (such as correct/incorrect chimes), and the guitar/piano sounds.
3) Guitar/Piano sounds are midi out signals sent by Noteable itself and can be disabled if you want your midi keyboard to handle those sounds.
4) While a session is in progress, you may wish to change the midi sound you hear when using the Piano or Guitar modes.  To do this click 'Instrument | Other...' from the drop-down menu.

I get a runtime error:
1) It is possible that there are conflicts with older versions of Noteable.
2) Try completely removing Noteable and reinstalling
Report this error if it persists.

I get 'missing .dll' errors:
1) Necessary system files are missing or outdated.
2) Please send your message to us to help eliminate these errors.
3) A quick patch release from The Noteable Software Company will resolve this.
4) Also, the necessary file update is likely available for download elsewhere on the Internet.

Noteable is slow
1) Please use Noteable only with Windows 95 or later operating systems
2) We suggest using Noteable on Pentium 2 computers or better
3) Closing other applications and restarting your computer before use will accellerate Noteable's perfomance.

FAQ

Why don't my unlock codes work?
If you paid to register the full version of Noteable after version 5.0 had been released, you were issued codes that work for the newer version but not with version 4.0 (because we recently re-worked the registration process).  If you are using version 4, we recommend that you upgrade to the latest version.  If you wish, you may request codes for version 4.

Also, users who purchased the software before version 5 was released were given codes that seem to not fit the new registration fields.  Your codes do work however.  Simply enter as many characters as will fit from left to right and your codes should work.  Don't worry.  When you buy codes to Noteable we will make sure they always work with all future versions of the software.  To learn what version of Noteable you are using click 'Help | About Noteable' from the drop-down menu.

Can you please resend my unlock codes?
We understand that computer crashes and viruses happen.  We will resend your codes upon request.  However, please be respectful and responsible.  Print your codes and store them in a safe place.  Resending codes must be done manually and takes our time.  We charge five dollars to do this.  Click here to have us resend your codes.

Can I put Noteable on more than one computer?
As described in the License Agreement, you may put Noteable on up to two computers provided that you own both.  Otherwise you can buy a site license that grants permission for all computers at a single location for one year.

Is there a Mac (Apple) version of Noteable?
No.  Noteable currently is only available for Windows.  We will consider releasing Mac version in the future, however.

Is there a portable (PalmOS or PocketPC) version of Noteable?
No.  Noteable currently is only available for Windows.  We will consider releasing portable version in the future, however.

How do I unlock the full version of the software?
Click 'Help | Upgrade' from the drop-down menu.  Enter the codes you received upon purchase in the Email Address and Registration Codes fields and click 'Upgrade'.

Can I order Noteable by check?
Yes.  Call 1-800-360-5192 to order using a check.

I have sent multiple requests and not heard back from you.  Why?
Please check your email Spam filtering options and mailbox space to ensure you receive correspondence from us.  If you have not heard back from us in several days there is likely a mechanical problem.

Why are the notes misaligned and how can I fix it?
Dots per inch (DPI) settings differ on some computers causing the notes to appear misaligned.  To remedy this you can either change your DPI setting or manually calibrate note positioning. To change your DPI setting right-click your desktop and click 'Properties' to show the Display Properties window.  Click the 'Settings' tab and 'Advanced'.  Look for a DPI setting and make sure it is set to 96 (Normal).  Also, a manual calibration tool has been built into Noteable to align the notes properly.  Click 'Help | Calibrate Note Positioning' from the Deck Setup window to manually calibrate note positioning.

Can I use Noteable with my midi keyboard/guitar?
Yes.  Provided your midi keyboard is properly connected, Noteable should automatically listen for Midi input provided you are playing in the Piano play mode.  You can switch to the Piano play mode from the Deck Setup window.  See the help documentation for details.

I paid for the software and still have not received my unlock codes.  Why?
Please wait at least 48 hours for your codes.  We manually send unlock codes and this can take some time.  If you still don't have your codes within 2 business days, contact us.

Why am I getting an error?
Please first check out our patches page where we provide resolutions to errors that have already been reported.  If this does not resolve your error, usually, specific errors can be remedied if you report them.  When reporting, please include your Operating System, Version of Noteable, and specific error message.

Will Noteable help me?
